Chaminuka the Great

This abstract face is in actual fact the representation by a Shona artist of the mhondoro or tribal spirit, which Sean has painted on the moulded rock. This spirit is revered by the Zezuru and Manyika sub-groups of the Shona people from Zimbabwe. The stylized, layered eye in repeating planes symbolizes an image dominated formally by the all-seeing eyes.
