| Situated within a relatively short driving distance from Cape Town, throughout the mountainous regions of the Western Cape, is a fascinating natural gallery of Bushmen rock art, consisting of thousands of paintings executed over many generations. The art is rich in symbolism and metaphor, and often depicts the religious and spiritual beliefs of the ancient and shamanic Bushmen culture. Gary Trower specialises in Bushmen cultural and rock art tours, and will be leading the groups of guests to certain selected sites which he feels best represents this wonderful ancient art form. These sites have been chosen using various criteria to determine their suitability for the tours and factors such as accessibility, clarity, degree of preservation and number of paintings per site were all taken into consideration in deciding the rock art routes. Sites which were archaeologically sensitive, or were sacred and well hidden were avoided in order to conserve their pristine nature. |

Permission is gained from all the local farmers to visit the sites, as most paintings are on private property, so we maintain a good working relationship with them. The tours are highly flexible and can be adapted to suit the needs of the group. Short and long day trips are on offer, as well as overnight tours. Spiritual tours are also planned, which are more exclusive and with a much smaller group size. The aim of such a tour is to do guided meditations and to connect with the ancestors, in order to share in their wisdom and guidance. We provide a service as specialists in the fields of archaeology, human evolution and bushmen culture, concentrating on the rock art in particular. Bookings are available through various tour operators |
